SCOUT ARMOR 250 meters per melee turn = 90kph (89.29 kph) 90 kph x 500 = 45,000 areas per hour 45,000 Aph / 300 turns of 12 seconds = 150 areas per turn if had a SPD of 5 then would fly at 30" if had a SPD of 4 then would fly at 37.5" if had a SPD of 3 then would fly at 50" GAMMA HERO MOVEMENT "the normal movement rate for a man ... is 12 meters per ten-second turn. A charge move is double that - 24 meters - and a trot is two-thirds of a charge move - 16 meters. The movement rates listed in the creatures section are the normal movement rates. Maximum speed may be found by multiplying the normal move by five. Movement for ROBOTIC UNITS is given in kilometers per hour (kph). This can be converted to meters per turn by multiplying the speed by 2.8. For example, a unit which moves at 30 kph moves 30 x 2.8 or 84 meters per melee turn." (GW 17-18) [therefore, by dividing the movement per melee turn by 2.8 (or by multiplying it by about 0.36 -- 1/2.8) we get the kph] Examples: Death Machine = 150 kph x 2.8 = 420 meters per 10 second melee turn 420m/10 seconds x6 = 2520m/per 60 seconds (minute) 2520m/minute x 60 minutes per hour = 151,200 meters/hour 151,200/1,000 meters per kilometer = 151.2 kph N.B. this is normal rate not at the full x5 rate - that would be 750 kph! Human = 12m x5(full rate) = 60 meters per 10 second melee turn 60/2.8 = 21.43 kph at full rate or 4.29 kph at normal rate HERO SYSTEM MOVEMENT "Velocity per Phase x SPD = Areas per turn" (HERO 4th ed. p.142) Fortunately, the HERO "Area" is equal to 2 meters so there are 500 area in a kilometer, and a HERO Turn is 12 seconds so there are 300 turns in an hour (60 minutes, 3600 seconds). So to get HERO movement in KPH: Areas Per Turn x 300 Turns per Hour ----------------------------------- = kph 500 Areas Per Kilometer Or, to simplify the formula: Areas per Turn x .6 = kph GAMMA HERO MOVEMENT Convert all Gamma World movement to kph and then find the comparable movement in HERO. To make it easier here's the formulae: GAMMA WORLD: Normal movement per melee turn x 2.8 = kph Full (x5) movement per melee turn x 14 (2.8 x 5)= kph HERO: Combat movement = Areas per Turn x .6 = kph NCM = Areas per Turn x 1.2 = kph Or to combine these formulae: Gamma World Normal Movement per Melee Turn = HERO Combat Movement per Turn 2.8 x 0.6 = 1.68 So, divide the Gamma World normal movement by 1.68 to get the HERO combat movement per turn and then divide that by the HERO SPD to get the HERO combat movement per phase (and round up). (GW Normal Move/1.68)/SPD = HERO Combat Move per Phase E.G. Scout armour moves at 250 meters per melee turn (or 90 kph), if it had 3 SPD it would fly at: (250/1.68)/5 = 29.76 -> 30" You can do the math the long way but this formula works.
